Altengamme

This Sampler was named in honor of the village Altengamme. Altengamme was named by charter in 1188 for the first time. It is part of the Vierlanden. It is based on old motifs of those Vierlanden samplers. If you look at the first motif you will find an eagle in the motif. This eagle can often be found in Vierlanden motifs. It is the coat-of-arms of the city of Lübeck. This design can be stitched in any fabrics that is evenly woven like linen, aida or evenweave. The sampler has 338 x 338 stitches.
